Panthers Surprise at Coast, Culver

December 14, 2009, 12:38pm

The Redmond Panthers sent three teams to two tournaments and were able to make significant gains in our progress toward the District and State tournaments.

RHS sent their first and third string to the Coach Classic at North Bend High School, recognized as the toughest early season tournament in the state of Oregon.  The Panthers were led by runners-up Sean Soliz, SR and Ryan Haney, SO.  Other Varsity placers were Chance Lindquist, FR, 5th, 119; Levi Brinkley, JR, 4th, 125; Nick Coles, SR, 4th, 140; Duel Christiansen, SR, 5th, 215.  The squad placed 4th out of 30 teams.

Coast Classic Results

Culver-The 2nd String went to another Varsity tournament at Culver High School where they competed against some of the top small schools in the state of Oregon.  The very young Panther squad finished 5th out of 16 teams.  This is a very respectable finish for a group of mostly freshman versus some of the best individuals in the state.  Leading the Panther JV was Tyler George, 103 lbs freshman with a 3rd place performance.

Wrestling Practice Starts November 9th!

October 28, 2009, 3:09pm

We are just a few days away from the start of the wrestling season.  Please take some time to go over the neccesary steps to get ready for the first practice Monday, November 9th.

For more info about eligibility and paperwork you can go to the RHS Athletic Website or call Jamy Gibbs at 541-923-4806

Forms and Fee

There are a couple of forms you must get filled out and a fee you have to pay before you practice. If you did not participate in a fall sport, you will need to pick up your forms from Jamy Gibbs in the athletic office. Please have your parent fill out the form and pay your athletic fee, and you can be cleared to wrestle at that time. Remember, you cannot practice until you are cleared.

Practice

The first day of practice is November 9th. I have enclosed a calendar to help remind you of important dates and practice times. Please put it on the refrigerator or some place where your entire family will be aware of all that is happening. On days that we have school, we will practice from 3:45-6:00pm. On non-school days we will practice from 10am-11:30am unless otherwise posted.

Get friends involved
This past spring and summer, as many of you are aware, we invited incoming freshmen to participate in our freestyle program and summer camp. Some of you attended, some of you didn't, and some of your friends didn't. Please spread the word that it is okay for any freshman to turn out, even if they weren't involved in the spring and summer.

If you have any questions, please give me a call--
